Mobile Menus and Contactless Payment Essential for Survival in 2021

Mobile Menus and Contactless Payment Essential for Survival in 2021

The New Year is approaching, but social distancing isn’t going anywhere. While many
restaurants have survived because of their pre-existing digital transformation, others continue to
struggle with telephone orders and curbside pickup. No matter what your restaurant’s level of
digital transformation is, one thing is for certain. Mobile menus and contactless payment are
essential for business survival in 2021.

Mobile Menu Options

Having a simple website is not the best option for a mobile menu. Firstly, a responsive website will adjust its size to meet the needs of the viewer. In other words, it will fit to the size of your smartphone or tablet in a way that makes it easily readable and/or scrollable. Additionally, mobile menus can be online ordering systems where your customers can choose their meal and pay online without ever having to enter your establishment.

Mobile menus are often coupled with their physical counterparts, as restaurants have been able to open for dine-in business intermittently. However, paper menus are quickly going disposable, so they can be single-use. This option can be almost entirely replaced by a QR code menu, where customers can scan the QR code at their table and use their smartphones to order.

Lastly, mobile menu options must be visually pleasing and not cumbersome to use. The New Year should deliver some ease to customers instead of the struggle of learning to use something new.

Contactless Payment Options

While a mobile menu may already have contactless payment options built into it, dine-in restaurants should also have contactless payment options. There are a variety of options, and each restaurant should offer as many as possible. Some credit cards are equipped with technology that allows them to be held near a card reader instead of inserting them. Other contactless payment options include accepting payments from smartphone apps and wearable technologies (i.e. smart watches).  Cash payments have not disappeared, but contactless payment options are taking over.

Work with a Company Designed for Your Business

A new year is about to begin, and you can start it off right by working with a company designed for your restaurant business. The restaurant industry is unique in its service and its struggle in a world suffering the challenges of the pandemic. Only a company that knows the details of the industry can provide a system that will cater to a restaurant’s needs.
